The Heart of God
36”x48” Acrylic on 1 1/2” Gallery Canvas
I have loved lions since I was a child.
Every Wednesday night I would watch Wild Discovery and be enthralled by their majestic beauty. But anyone who has watched a Lion documentary, knows it’s not always pretty. These are fierce predator animals at the top of the food chain, and all others steer clear of their awesome power. Hunting is a huge focus of their footage. And it can be very hard to watch. But without going into more detail, that’s what’s so beautiful about this depiction here; the lion and the lamb.
Analogies which are given to the Savior of the earth from the Father Himself. The lion at the top of the food chain and the lamb at the bottom of the food chain, encompassed in one. The King of the Heavens and the Earth, was sent in humility and in meekness to lay down His life for the sins of those who were essentially beneath Him. Lower than, less than worthy, unable to atone for their own sins. He represents both.
The Heart of God is to protect you, lead you, guide you, and to do it all from a place of sweet, unmatched gentleness and love. How awesome is that? He is the Lion of Judah, which holds tremendous weight; He is the safest place for our hearts to be. Connecting with His heart is easy, and that’s what makes this reality so profound. We can come before Him, touch His very heart and find ourselves safe in His presence.
"The Lord your God is with you,
the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you;
in his love he will no longer rebuke you,
but will rejoice over you with singing". Zephaniah 3:17
